Through the history of salvation there have been challenging moments that came upon God’s people – plagues, exile, droughts, defeat and a whole host of other things. Whether it was slavery in Egypt, anarchy during the time of judges, civil war under the egotistical kings of the 8th Century BC, the plague of locusts in Joel, exile to Babylon or even the mundane and arduous circumstances that marked the return from exile, there there have been many seasons where the lives of God’s people were predominantly marked by suffering and challenge.
In such a time we need to (re)learn some ancient lessons as well as discover some new ones. I have always loved how the writer of Chronicles, trying to help the returning exiles handle the mundane, non-spectacular and ‘boring’ circumstances, described the men of Issachar:
All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take. (1 Chronicles 12:32)
So as we face mundane, challenging and monotonous days, we are putting on a series of ‘lockdown seminars’ to help us know the best course of action for our times.
Seminar Format & Zoom Details
- Either before our normal Sunday service (3-4pm) or immediately afterwards (5.40-6.40pm), see below for the details
- 1 hour long, over Zoom
- Include content to discuss, but also provide a place to share and learn together
- Give a chance to build community as well as learn some biblical principles
Whilst not mandatory, we encourage people to have webcams on to enable and facilitate the discussion and sharing as a community.
