2019 was the last time we sent a team to Vinjeru School in Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia. We have had a long standing relationship with Martin and Karolyn Simbeye who lead the school, and the trust that provides oversight and governance of the school.
2023 Service Trip: Mon 13th – Sat 25th March
In March 2023 Christ City Church is sending a team of 10-15 people as a Service Trip to Kapiri. Our aim will be to:
- Support the existing work of the school in a variety of ways (e.g lessons, assemblies, after school activities, sports, 1-2-1s, practical help etc)
- Build relationships – with the Simbeyes, staff, pupils, local churches & wider community
- Help with the wider evangelism & discipleship that happens alongside the school (e.g youth clubs, bible-studies, training teachers in faith & work, sports camps, church outreach etc).
Our desire is that we’re an encouragement and help strengthen what God is already doing, and particularly the existing workers on the ground. Hopefully we’ll get to enjoy some of the Zambia culture, wildlife and sites too. We’ll also try to learn the names of Martin & Karolyn’s 5 kids – Ninza (13), Safila (11), Nachila (9) Nasubila (7) & Tehila (5) – the younger two will turn 8 & 6 whilst were there!!
We will fly out on Monday 13th March and return on Friday 24th (arriving back Saturday 25th) which makes it 13 days in total – a day each end for travel and 11 days in Kapiri.
The trip will be led by Steve Vaughan and Nick Elliott.

- Consider the finances – a deposit of 100 euros to be paid by 15th Dec, total cost estimates of €1000-1500 (we’ll do some fundraising together).
- Look at flights (we’ll do this together but do look up the options via; Kenya, Addis Ababa, Dubai or Jo’burg – flying with Ethiopian, Kenyan, Emirates or South African airlines). We will need to book flights before Christmas or start of January.
- Prepare for Africa. March is not too hot so bugs are not too bad, but we’ll need to get some vaccinations, and the trip (and travel) will not be with the normal western comforts we are used to.
Pat & Faye Tice – Mon 28th Nov 8.30-9.30pm
Pat & Faye Tice (long time friends of CCC) will be working at the school for the whole of 2023, so we’ll be able to connect with them too. We’re running an information & prayer night for them on Monday on zoom, 8.30-9.30pm
