In the last 18 months, the pandemic has challenged the status quo, causing many of us to rethink both the obstacles and the opportunities this has afforded—-opportunities which, had we not been caught in a worldwide pandemic, we might have missed.
With foreign travel mostly off the cards and stay-cations becoming the ‘in thing’, there is also an opportunity for the local church in these summer months as more and more people remain at home.
At Christ City Church, our vision is to be a Christian community in Dublin committed to make a positive difference to the city spiritually, socially and culturally. As part of the outworking of this vision, we have a passion to equip the ‘saints for the work of ministry’ (Eph 4:11), and a crucial aspect of this equipping is understanding the theological underpinning beneath who we are and what we believe about God and ourselves. Tozer writes, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.(1)
Therefore, this summer we will host a School of Theology. This will run in the mornings for one week (23rd-27th August), exploring 5 topics with a systematic theological lens, delivered by 5 different speakers.
The aim is to give those with little to no theological training yet who are hungry, from Christ City Church and other churches across Dublin, something deeper which they cannot get in Sunday sermons and other church events. Again, Tozer suggests, “It is a solemn thing, and no small scandal in the Kingdom, to see God’s children starving while actually seated at the Father’s table.” (2)
These mornings are designed for the Christian who wants to go deeper, to move from milk to meat, with the hope of developing deeper roots in Christ and understanding our place in his story.
For 5 mornings from Monday 23rd August to Friday 27th August, hosted at the Irish Bible Institute on Foley St, Dublin, we’ll gather together to explore and better understand each of the topics listed below:

If availability is an issue, please know there is no requirement to come to all 5 mornings. Please do come along to what you can, even if it is just for one session.
Each morning will begin at 9.15am with some tea, coffee and light breakfast, before a short devotional at 9.30am and the first session will get going at 9.45am. The format of each morning will take the shape of two 1 hour sessions followed by a group discussion time and Q&A with the speaker. We will finish up by 12.30pm; however, if you wish to hang around and get some lunch (not provided) then we’ll be there until 1.30pm.
