If you’re coming along with children, that’s great! We love meeting new families.
Shannen Greenhalgh is our Children's Worker and she is supported by a team of volunteers. When you arrive on a Sunday, just speak to one of the welcome team at the door and they will introduce you to Shannen or another Children's Team leader.
We will ask you to fill in a sign-in sheet for all new children aged 3-12, and then you will just need to sign them in each week.
There's a table in the main hall for the children with sandwiches and snacks(excluding August), as well as the sign-in sheets. This is a great opportunity for the children to get a bite to eat and to meet the other children as well.
There is a small play area for babies and toddlers aged under 3 at the back of the main room with some toys and a mat to crawl around on. We love small children and don't mind if they make noise so parents and carers are very welcome to keep their baby or toddler in the service. However, if they are unsettled and you would like to take them to another room, we also have a parent/carer led creche in another room which is signposted from the main hall. This room is carpeted and has more toys and there is also an audio link from the main room to the creche so you can still listen to the talk from there.
Children aged 3-12 stay with the congregation for the first part of the service and the songs and then their leaders will take the children out to their groups: the Treehouse and the Den.There we have Garda vetted volunteers who do some fun activities and teach from the Bible.
There we have Garda vetted volunteers who do some fun activities and learn from the Bible. Before bringing the children back at the end of the service. Their room is out of the door at the back of the main hall, next to the bathroom.
Within Treehouse there are two groups - Pre-School to Senior Infants and 1st-6th class. Some activities are done all together and some in the two groups, but they stay in the same room.
Our Children’s Team
All our Children's leaders and helpers have been part of Christ City Church for at least three months and have been through an application process, which includes Garda vetting.
Not just Sundays
We occasionally organise trips out with the children and their leaders. The most recent trip was to Jumpzone in Santry. The children had a great time!
The children are also an important part of our annual Weekend Away. Like in our Sunday gatherings, the children stay with the congregation for songs but during the talks we have special guest leaders who run a full children's weekend away programme to give the CCC Children's team a break. Outside of the main sessions the children of course join in all the fun and games with the rest of the church.
The final big event in our calendar is the family carol service, where the children take centre stage! Last Christmas they performed a nativity play, read from the Bible and sang songs with actions which they encouraged the rest of the church to join in with. They were fantastic!
